Glen Howell, local historian and member of the Mar Vista Historical Society, will discuss how the Charnock Wells in Mar Vista shaped the development of Mar Vista, Venice, Santa Monica and Culver City during a meeting of the Mar Vista Historical Society from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 15th, in the Abbot Kinney Memorial Library, 501 S. Venice Blvd., Venice.

The Charnock Wells were used to supply water to the City of Santa Monica until Santa Monica water became contaminated with MTBE, an additive to gasoline that seeped into Santa Monica water sources.

The Mar Vista Historical Society meeting is free and open to the public. (310) 391-8646.
