Marcy Wade, who has had 23 years of experience in human resources, ten of them at a community college, has been named vice president of human resources for Santa Monica College (SMC). She begins her new post Monday, April 23rd.
Wade, of Inglewood, is currently the associate vice president of human resources at El Camino College in Torrance, where she has been since May last year. Previously she served as director and assistant director of human resources.
ìWeíre very excited that Ms. Wade will be leading the area that oversees SMCís biggest asset ó its people,î said SMC president Chui L. Tsang. ìShe impressed the hiring committee with her experience and ability to communicate with employees.î
Aside from her experience at El Camino College, Wade has served in human resources and personnel positions for the City of Manhattan Beach, the California State University Chancellors Office in Long Beach and Security Pacific Auto Finance Corporate Headquarters in Westlake Village.
Wade has been active in a number of professional and service organizations, including the Association of California Community College Administrators, where she currently serves as a board member, the Association of Chief Human Resources Officers/Equal Employment Officers, and Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority, Inc., where she currently serves as a national board member.
She also does volunteer work through her church, St. Bernadette, in Los Angeles.
A native of Los Angeles, Wade received her bachelorís degree in communication studies from UCLA and a masterís degree in public administration from California State University at Dominguez Hills.
She has two children, Kimberly Aparicio and Marcus Wade, an El Camino College student and U.S. Marine Corps reservist.
