Aries, a 46-foot sail boat represented by the California Yacht Club Juniors with its theme “A Christmas Feast in Paradise,” was named the Best Overall winner at the 47th Annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade December 12th.

The boat, owned by Bob Staniec, also finished in second place in the Best Animation category.

The theme of this year’s parade was “Christmas in Paradise.”

The Best Overall champion took home the 2009 Sweepstakes Award, which includes a two-night stay at the Renaissance Montura Hotel near Los Angeles International Airport, followed by a five-night stay for two at the King Kamehameha Beach Resort and dinner passes in Kona, Hawaii.

The Best Sail category was won by the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club’s Invictus, a 35-foot sail boat owned by Pamela Johnson. The sail winners will receive a two-night stay for two in San Francisco.

Marina-Venice Yacht Club’s Blue Chips, a 65-foot power boat, was chosen as the Best Power winner with the theme “Hello Tiki Christmas.” The category champion earned a two-night stay for two at the Hotel Indigo in San Diego.

Animation — Halcyon, 50-foot sail boat, Lillyin Love;

Band — The Way to Happiness, 23-foot power boat, Bob Sullivan;

Music — The Way to Happiness;

Lights — Grace, 58-foot power boat, James Mitchell;

Spirit — Tranquil-a-sea, 28-foot power boat, Dan Stoneking;

Theme — Argesea, 70-foot power boat, The Salvation Army;

Charter — Tiki Mermaid, 57-foot power boat, The Payne Company;

Individual — Gallorosa, 44-foot sail boat, Ross Wood;

Organization — Aletheia, 40-foot sail boat, Women’s Sailing Association; and

Yacht Club — Salsera, 34-foot sail boat, Paul DeLuca.
