A 55-year-old Marina del Rey man who called himself a “spiritual advisor” has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting women during therapy sessions, police said.
Los Angeles Police Department detectives said they arrested Michael Keith Martin June 21st in connection with the alleged sexual assault of several women, some of whom are members of a church in the 5700 block of Buckingham Parkway in Culver City, where Martin attended meetings.
Martin portrayed himself as a life coach who practiced “alternative medical systems” and met with the women for sessions at his home, police said.
Some of the women came forward to police alleging that Martin would first meditate with them and then fondle and penetrate them with his fingers against their will. Police believe there may be other victims and are encouraging them to come forward.
Martin was arrested without incident near his home and is being held at the central jail in downtown Los Angeles. His bail was set at $100,000.
He is described as an African American man with dreadlocks and brown eyes, approximately six feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds.
