The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has anounced closing the eastbound and westbound Marina Freeway (State Route 90) connectors to the northbound San Diego Freeway (Interstate 405) Thursday and Friday, January 17th and 18th.

The Marina Freeway west connector to the northbound 405 Freeway is scheduled to be closed from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the Marina Freeway east connector is scheduled to be closed from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, January 17th and 18th.

The closures are connected to the $167-million High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) project on the 405 Freeway from the Marina Freeway to the Santa Monica Freeway (Interstate 10).

The project is expected to be completed by summer 2009, at which time the HOV lane on the southbound 405 Freeway will be continuous from the San Fernando Valley through Orange County, according to Caltrans.
