The Airport Marina Counseling Service (AMCS) will honor Mary Ellen and Alan Cassman with its Community Builder Lifetime Achievement Award at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, March 25th, at Loyola Marymount University Roski Dining Hall, 1 LMU Drive, Westchester.

“Mary Ellen and Alan Cassman, with their boundless energy, generosity and total involvement and devotion to this community and its needs, are the perfect recipients for this award,” said event chair Doris Uncapher.

Alan Cassman served as the incorporating attorney for Airport Marina Counseling Service, the Westchester Mental Health Guild and other community organizations, and has continued to be a consulting attorney to them.

Mary Ellen Cassman, a member of the Airport Marina Counseling Service founding committee, has been chair of its board and was executive director from 1974 until her retirement in 1990.

She briefly returned to the clinic as executive director from 1997 to 1998 and also served as president of the Westchester Mental Health Guild.

For 24 years, the Cassmans have volunteered for key Airport Marina Counseling Service fundraising events such as Jet to Jetty and the Home and Garden Tours.

They have also been involved in the Westchester Family YMCA since its inception. Alan Cassman was one of the its founders and helped raise money for its building. He has been a member of the YMCA’s board of managers for 20 years.

Mary Ellen Cassman served as chair of the YMCA board of directors from 2004 to 2005 and she continues to be a board member.

Individual tickets are $125, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The evening’s entertainment is the improv ensemble Off the Wall. Among the group’s credits are Cheers, Family Ties, Ally McBeal, St. Elmo’s Fire, Police Academy V and 28 Days.
