A meeting on the community design overlay (CDO) district for the Loyola Village area of Westchester is scheduled at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 4th, in the Loyola Village Library Mary Lou Crockett Community Room, 7114 Manchester Ave., Westchester.
Debbie Lawrence of the Community Planning Bureau is expected to attend and give a presentation of the community de- sign overlay process.
The Loyola Village area is centered at the intersection of Manchester Avenue and Lincoln Boulevard in Westchester. The community design overlay process gives the community an opportunity to provide guidelines and standards for development of properties within the district boundaries.
The intent of the community design overlay is to provide design guidance and direction to enhance the visual identity, commercial viability, safety, walkability and appearance of a district, planning officials said.
Some Playa del Rey residents have also expressed interest in implementing district guidelines for Culver Boulevard and in the Pershing Drive/Manchester area in Playa del Rey. A separate meeting to address a community design overlay for Playa del Rey is being planned for next month.
