Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a driver suspected of killing a 27-year-old motorcyclist in a hit and run collision in Del Rey March 19.

Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic division officers were called at 3:05 p.m. to Jefferson Boulevard and Mesmer Avenue in Del Rey regarding a traffic collision. When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw a man who was unresponsive on the ground near a fallen motorcycle, police said.

The victim, identified by the county coroner as Robert Antonio Guerra-Perez, of Hawthorne, was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that a driver traveling westbound on Jefferson Boulevard in a 2007 BMW struck Guerra-Perez while turning southbound on Mesmer Avenue, police said. Guerra-Perez was riding his 2007 R1 motorcycle during the accident.

Following the collision, the driver allegedly failed to stop and render aid to the victim, police said. Police currently do not have a description of the suspect.
