The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be offering the Weekend Navigator course at the Del Rey Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, beginning Thursday, Feb. 3 and ending March 31.

This nine-week comprehensive course is designed for both experienced and novice power boat and sail boat operators.

The course is divided into two major parts designed to educate the boating enthusiast in skills required for a safe voyage on a variety of waters and boating conditions.

The course fee is $80 for book and materials, due the first day of class. The Del Rey Yacht Club is at 13900 Palawan Way, Marina del Rey.

Boating safety course The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be offering the “About Boating Safely” course at the California Yacht Club in Marina del Rey, beginning Feb. 28 and ending March 21.

This four-week comprehensive course is designed for novice power boat or sail boat operators and their friends and family, and will provide the knowledge needed to obtain a boating safety certification. The class includes training on the state and federal boating regulations.

Many insurance companies will offer discounts on boat insurance to boaters who successfully complete the About Boating Safely class, according to the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

A $45 book and certificate fee is due the first day of class. Class is expected to fill quickly. The California Yacht Club is at 4469 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey.
