Friends and neighbors of three Mar Vista family members who were injured in a house fire late last month have scheduled an event Saturday, March 27th to raise funds for the displaced family.

Two of the family members, a 43-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl suffered from minor burns and smoke exposure in the fire that broke out at the one-story home at 3712 Meier St., Mar Vista February 23rd, Los Angeles fire officials said. The two were released from the hospital February 28th.

The third family member, a 40-year-old man, was critically injured and remains hospitalized in fragile condition, a family friend said.

Friends have scheduled a fundraiser, including a multi-family garage sale, live auction, cakewalk, and kid-sponsored bake sale to collect donations for the family.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the 3700 block of Meier Street in Mar Vista March 27th. Neighbors hosting this event say they are currently seeking donations from local businesses of new items for the live auction and raffle prizes.

Contributions of goods or services, entertainers or other event vendors are also welcome.
