Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center Marina Campus opened a new diabetes care center Wednesday, September 20th, at the hospital, 4644 Lincoln Blvd. in Marina del Rey.
The center, recognized by the American Diabetes Association for Quality Self-Management Education, will focus its efforts on educating the public about the complications of diabetes and how to properly control the disease.
“It is our hope that we can empower the public with important education about this life-threatening epidemic to improve the health of our community and make management of diabetes an attainable goal,” said Dr. Etie Moghissi, the center’s medical director.
Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who is diabetic, helped the center with its ribbon- cutting ceremony.
“As a diabetic, I understand the importance of managing diabetes to ensure a healthy lifestyle,” Rosendahl said. “Through education classes, self-management seminars and preventive care, the Centinela Freeman Diabetes Care Center improves the health of our community by providing tools to control this serious disease.”
