A new program throughout the county to “erase waste storm water” has been launched by the California Water Boards — formerly the State Water Resources Control Board.

The campaign will introduce a Neighborhood Action Kit, a how-to guide of storm water pollution prevention activities, designed to help residents develop solutions to the problem of pollution in their neighborhoods.

The kit includes resource materials and “get involved” suggestions designed to encourage residents to take simple actions, such as adopting a local park or playground as a trash-free zone.

The kit also encourages members of homeowner groups to establish speaking boards.

The kit is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese languages.

The kit will be distributed throughout the county this summer as part of a two-year, $5 million advertising and public education campaign, “Erase the Waste.”
