The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has planned a new project to improve freeway access to Los Angeles

International Airport (LAX).

Caltrans will be widening the Sepulveda Boulevard off-ramp of the westbound Century Freeway (Interstate 105), from Sepulveda Boulevard to Nash Street, to

allow quicker access to northbound Sepulveda Boulevard and to add capacity to the off-ramp.

The project will also provide congestion relief and enhance safety, Caltrans officials said.

The majority of work will be performed adjacent to and underneath the existing off-ramp lanes. Lane closures will be minimal.

The project is scheduled to begin early this summer and the estimated completion is scheduled for late 2009.

The estimated project cost is $10 million. Funding is provided through the State Transportation Improvement Program, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and the City of Los Angeles. The contractor for the project is Beador Construction of Corona.
