AMC Theatres has announced plans to open a six-screen movie theater in the fall at Marina Marketplace, complementing an existing dine-in theater at the shopping center near Marina del Rey.
The new theater will feature plush seating, Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, and expanded concession offerings including hot foods, such as pizza, mozzarella sticks and chicken tenders. Because it will not be an AMC Dine-In Theatre, the new AMC location at Marina Marketplace will welcome guests of all ages to enjoy their favorite new releases on the big screen.
“People looking for exciting ‘date night’ and ‘adults’ night-out’ experiences for 21 or older can enjoy the unique venue that only the AMC Dine-In Theatre can provide, while those customers who have requested a family-friendly option will be pleased with the new six-screen theatre opening this fall,” says Kathy Obenhuber, property manager of Marina Marketplace.
“We want our customers to know that we listen to their feedback and have worked closely with AMC to meet the community’s needs with this new addition,”
Mark McDonald, executive vice president of development at AMC, added, “AMC is thrilled to have the opportunity to operate two renovated complexes in the compelling Marina Marketplace project.”
The 419,000-square foot Marina Marketplace is nearing completion of the second phase of a $25-million redevelopment. The grand reopening of the center is slated for the summer and will feature retail and dining additions including Yard House, Belgian bakery Le Pain Quotidien, natural salad shop Tender Greens, and home furnishings and gifts store Pier 1 Imports.
