Santa Monica’s Office of Sustainability and the Environment has launched a new Web site at www.sustainablesm.org/ that provides information on important city services, programs, and resources for individuals and groups to network and link to news, workshops, events and local organizations.

The Web site can put nature lovers and parents in touch with outdoor activities and local field trip opportunities. It also links to the Santa Monica Public Library’s ever growing Sustainable Santa Monica Collection, a one-stop site for all the latest books and resources available at the main branch in downtown Santa Monica which has received Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design (LEED) gold certification.

The Green Building Program site at www.smgreen.org/ has been incorporated along with other subjects that include buying green, energy/solar, water, landscape, urban runoff, hazardous materials, and environmental education and business resources. One can visit the Green Office Buying Guide for a virtual tour of the ideal office with tips and specifications for all those interested in putting their dollars to work toward office greening.

City officials say that the sustainablesm.org site is just one example of the many ways that Santa Monica supports and encourages the community’s efforts to go “green.”
