The final concert of the New West Symphony’s 2010-11 Masterpiece Series season featuring Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and the debut of the New West Symphony Chorus will be presented at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Santa Monica High School’s Barnum Hall, 601 Pico Blvd.
The New West Symphony Chorus will provide the adult choral forces for the work and the Los Robles Children’s Choir will also take part. Soloists for the performance will include soprano Jessica Tivens, tenor John Mac Master and baritone Aaron St. Clair Nicholson.
Maestro Boris Brott, in his final concert as New West Symphony music director, will conduct the program, which also includes the Overture to La Forza del Destino by Giuseppe Verdi and three tenor arias by Giocomo Puccini. The arias, sung by Master, include “Nessun dorma” for Turandot, ”Ch’ella mi creda” from La Fanciulla del West and “Recondita armonia” from Tosca.
