Nine recruits are joining the ranks of the Los Angeles Airport Police, following their recent graduation from Rio Hondo Police Academy in Whittier.

Los Angeles Airport Police Acting Chief Brian A. Walker attended their graduation to perform the swearing-in ceremony.

The new officers are Maria Duenez, Samuel Abbinanti, Walter Plummer, Craig Abrahams, Fernando Farias, Randy Armenta, Matthew Patrick, Raymond Rouzan and Curtis Smith.

The next step for the officers is to complete a six-month field training program.

During the training, the new officers will be assigned to a field training officer before they are released and assigned to the Patrol Services Section.

Los Angeles Airport Police is the fourth-largest law enforcement agency in Los Angeles County, with more than 900 law enforcement, security and staff personnel.

Airport Police is a division of Los Angeles World Airports, the City of Los Angeles agency that owns and operates the city’s airports: Los Angeles International, Ontario International, Palmdale Regional and Van Nuys.
