After capturing the District 25 and Section 3 championships, the North Venice Little League baseball senior division team has moved on to the Division 3 tournament in Palmdale.

The Little League senior division includes 15- and 16-year-old players.

The District 25 tournament included teams from North Venice, Santa Monica, Playa Vista and Beverly Hills.

North Venice lost 8-3 to Beverly Hills Little League in the first game of the District 25 tournament July 1st, but then defeated Santa Monica and avenged the loss to Beverly Hills to reach the championship against Playa Vista.

North Venice picked up back-to-back victories against Playa Vista, including a 5-2 win in the second game to capture the District 25 title.

The Section 3 tournament, which was hosted by Manhattan Beach Little League, included the teams from North Venice, Wiseburn, Long Beach, Harbor City and Manhattan Beach.

North Venice came out strong and earned a dominating 17-3 victory over Harbor City in the first game July 13th.

The North Venice team then defeated Manhattan Beach 4-3 after 16-year-old Marcaaron Takagaki stole home for the winning run.

North Venice defeated Manhattan Beach 11-1 in the Section 3 championship game Monday, July 17th.

Sixteen-year-old Troy Sommo pitched a complete game with three strikeouts, giving up only two hits.

The North Venice offense was led by Bryan Eyler, Dante Calvelli and Dorion Smith, who each finished with two RBIs (runs batted in).
