A new public park at Playa Vista — Westwind Park — will feature oversized birdhouses and giant topiaries sculpted in the shape of Audubon warblers.

The topiaries were designed and built by couple Jennifer and Charles Coburn of Coburn Topiary and Garden Art.

Forty-eight-foot trucks were used to transport the topiaries to Playa Vista from the Coburns’ factory in San Diego.

Audubon warblers are migratory birds that live in the Ballona Freshwater Marsh next door to Playa Vista.

More than 180 species of birds have reportedly been observed at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh.
