Carlana Stone, a paraplegic pilot, Emmy-winning Miami TV producer/reporter, and author of the book, “From Wheels to Wings,” will be the guest speaker at a dinner meeting Tuesday, May 19th, at the Flight Path Learning Center and Museum at Los Angeles International Airport.
The event is sponsored by the Southern California Aeronautic Association and the Los Angeles chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Stone, who lost the use of both legs at age 17 in a traffic accident, will discuss how, “through determination and grit,” she freed herself from a wheelchair to become a pilot, skydiver and certified scuba diver, according to the aeronautic association.
Stone’s life story has inspired audiences nationwide, an association spokesperson said.
