Santa Monica police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver of a vehicle involved in an alleged hit-and-run collision that critically injured a bicyclist in Santa Monica Saturday, January 17th.

A 33-year-old bicyclist was riding southbound on 20th Street, near Arizona Avenue at about 12:30 a.m., when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle, Santa Monica police investigator Chris Dawson said.

After the cyclist was struck, the driver of the vehicle allegedly ran over the man and his bicycle and then left the scene without rendering any assistance or notifying police of the collision, Dawson said.

The victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, Dawson said.

Police currently do not have a description of the vehicle, which they say may have front-end scratches or dents and possibly a cracked windshield.
