For the 12th consecutive year, the Santa Monica Red Cross and the Santa Monica Fire Department are accepting donations of unwrapped new gifts that will be distributed to Santa Monica low-income families and community organizations that have requested gifts.

Donations will also be distributed to families and children of persons displaced to Santa Monica by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The unwrapped new gifts will be accepted until Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24th.

Gifts may be dropped off at the Red Cross, 1450 11th St., Santa Monica, during business hours Monday through Friday, and daily including weekends at all Santa Monica fire stations.

This year, KABC-TV Spark of Love (Share the Holidays — Santa Monica) — is a co-sponsor of the events.

“Teenagers are most in need of gifts this year,” said Jerry Washington, director of volunteers and youth services for the Santa Monica Red Cross.

Businesses and organizations interested in becoming a donation site can contact Washington during business hours at (310) 394-3773 ext. 112.
