Los Angeles City Councilman Bill Rosendahl has organized a community meeting in Westchester to address the proposed reconfiguration of the north runways at Los Angeles International Airport.
The meeting is scheduled at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 at the Westchester Senior Center, 8470 Lincoln Blvd., Westchester.
The event will focus on a proposal by Los Angeles World Airports, the city agency that operates LAX, to move the north runways at the airport as much as 400 feet closer to the communities of Westchester and Playa del Rey.
Rosendahl said in a letter to constituents that he is categorically opposed to the plan, calling it the “most imposing one to ever come out of LAX.”
“What has been proposed for the LAX north runways is not airport modernization; it is airport expansion,” Rosendahl wrote to 11th District constituents.
The councilman said he will continue to fight any expansion plans at the airport and he urges community members to express any concerns as well as to provide input at the Westchester town hall meeting.
