Following its successful makeover of the Odom home last year, the Rotary Club of Westchester is now seeking worthy families for its second “Making a Home for the Holidays” project —Ýa sort of mini-home-makeover for one deserving family in the Westchester/Playa del Rey area.
Involving a team of dedicated Rotarians, local business people and volunteers, Making A Home for the Holidays will endeavor to change the lives of one lucky family by conducting repairs, sprucing up their home and adding a few special surprises.
With a much smaller budget than the folks at ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover, Rotarians will spend the weekend before Thanksgiving doing what they can to give back to the community and improve the living conditions for one family.
If you know a deserving family who should be considered for Making A Home for the Holidays, send their name, address and phone number to Making A Home for the Holidays, 8939 S. Sepulveda Blvd. #526, Westchester 90045, including up to 250 words about why the family deserves a home makeover, whether the family owns or rents, and ages of children in the family, along with your own contact information as well.
A panel of Rotarians will review the submissions and select the family.
Submissions must be made by May 1st.
In addition, if you are interested in contributing goods, services or even just your time to this project, call (310) 645-2295 to be a part of Making A Home for the Holidays.
With so many of us so fortunate, this is one small way for us to give back to our neighbors right here in Westchester/Playa del Rey.
BEACH CLEANUP — If you’re tired of looking at trash on the beach, now is your chance to pitch in and help make Dockweiler Beach a little cleaner.
From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, February 10th, join Rotarians from Westchester and El Segundo as their Rotary Clubs join with the Surfrider Foundation to host a Beach Cleanup.
Volunteers will meet at 10 a.m. at the Dockweiler Beach entrance on Vista del Mar at Imperial Highway.
Come lend a hand and make our beaches a little nicer for everyone.
