After leading Saint Anastasia Catholic School of Playa del Rey to successful seasons in football, basketball and volleyball, Coach Nick Galvan was presented with the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Coach of the Year Award.

As coach, Galvan guided the Saint Anastasia Panthers varsity boys to the Elite Eight in football, round one of the playoffs in basketball and to a third-place finish in volleyball this past school year.

“This is a great honor for me; I am proud to represent Saint Anastasia Catholic School and especially proud of these students, who played hard and excelled all season long,” said Galvan, who received the award at the CYO Sports Banquet.

In addition to Galvan’s recognition, several Saint Anastasia students were also honored with the CYO Achievement Award, which is the highest individual award an athlete can win and is based on a player’s athletic performance, sportsmanship and character.

This year recipients from Saint Anastasia and their respective sports included:

Tristin Balsz – volleyball;

Ella Bess – soccer;

Davis Boehle – volleyball;
