Santa Monica Bay Physicians, a Santa Monica-based medical group of 40 physicians, has announced that it will join the UCLA Health System under an agreement between both organizations.

Founded in 1994, the Santa Monica Bay Physicians is a multi-specialty group with roots in the Santa Monica area dating to 1953. The group is a large provider network for the Bay Area Community Medical Group, an independent practice association in West Los Angeles.

“We put the patient at the core of everything we do, and Santa Monica Bay Physicians’ long history of incredibly patient-focused primary and specialty care is a perfect fit for our health system,” said Dr. David Feinberg, CEO and associate vice chancellor of the UCLA Hospital System.

Dr. Bernard Katz, co-CEO of Santa Monica Bay Physicians, added, “We are excited that we will continue to primarily use Saint John’s Health Center (in Santa Monica) while also having access to UCLA Health System’s network of four hospitals in Westwood and Santa Monica and numerous neighborhood offices throughout greater Los Angeles.

“We will maintain access to our current physician provider network as well.”

Under the agreement, doctors of the Santa Monica Bay group will become full-time faculty members of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
