The 2013 Parkinson’s Beach Brigade 3K Walk-a-thon will be held along Santa Monica Beach Sunday, April 21.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and kick off at 2600 Barnard Way in Santa Monica.
Presented by the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of The American Parkinson Disease Association, the walk-a-thon is held to support research for a cure to Parkinson’s disease and to provide ongoing education, support and referrals for those who need help. The association is one of the 67 grassroots chapters across the country reporting to the National Headquarters of The American Parkinson Disease Association in New York.
The local chapter functions as a local liaison for communities in the greater Los Angeles area.
In addition to the walk, the event features a health exhibit expo and family fun fair. MayMay Ali is scheduled to kick off the event and speak about her passion for finding a Parkinson’s cure inspired by her father, boxing great Muhammad Ali.
Registration is $25 and can be made online at www.parkinsonsbeachbrigade.org, or by mailing a sponsor form and check to APDA LA, 9854 National Blvd. #165, Los Angeles, CA 90035.
