The Santa Monica Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a vehicle involved in a felony hit and run traffic collision that left a pedestrian with significant injuries.
A 53-year-old woman was walking across Pico Boulevard in the 3200 block at about 4:15 p.m. March 30th, when she was struck by a vehicle, Santa Monica police Sgt. Jay Trisler said. The victim received significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver allegedly left the scene in the vehicle, leaving the victim lying in the roadway, Trisler said. According to witnesses, the driver, described as a Hispanic or Asian man, was last seen allegedly driving erratically and at high speed near the intersection of Cloverfield and Pico boulevards, Trisler said.
The initial investigation revealed that the vehicle is described as a late model two-door Mitsubishi Eclipse, black in color.
Witnesses told police they can identify the driver by sight.
