This month, Santa Monica Police Department motor officers are targeting violations regarding pedestrians.
Each month, the police department’s Traffic Enforcement Section is focusing on different driving behaviors that are considered primary causes for traffic collisions, Sgt. Richard Lewis said.
Although not a driving behavior, pedestrian violations contribute as a primary collision factor in traffic collisions, Lewis noted.
Such violations include jaywalking, walking against a red light or “don’t walk” symbol, failing to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic, or pedestrians in the roadway.
Questions regarding the enforcement effort may be directed to Sgt. Phillbo Rubish at (310) 458-8950, or Lt. Jay Trisler at (310) 458-8471.
