The St. Joseph Center in Venice and Santa Monica is participating in several events this holiday season to bring together staff, clients and volunteers.

“We are so grateful that our longstanding supporters remain committed to helping us make the holidays a special time for all of our clients,” said Va Lecia Adams, St. Joseph Center executive director. “We couldn’t do it without them.”

The Neutrogena Corporation began the celebrations by hosting its seventh annual holiday event December 11th for the center’s Veterans Representative Payee Program, which provides financial counseling to veterans and individuals with mental illnesses. The veterans enjoyed a meal service, entertainment and gift bags donated by the company.

Other St. Joseph Center programs are participating in holiday festivities thanks to the longstanding community support of many organizations including, The Episcopal Parish of St. Matthew in Pacific Palisades, St. Monica Catholic Community and the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

The center’s Bread and Roses CafÈ served food and entertainment was provided from the Parish of St. Matthew for homeless men and women Wednesday, December 17th. Later that day, the UCLA Anderson School of Management hosted its annual party for the center’s Monetary Advisory Program clients.

The largest client event for the St. Joseph Center is scheduled Saturday, December 20th, at St. Monica Catholic Community, where the parish will host its annual holiday party for the Family Center and other St. Joseph clients. Staff anticipates over 400 guests at the event, which will feature live entertainment, lunch, caroling and various activities, including face painting and balloon making for children.

This year the center’s Adopt-a-Family Program is expected to match 1,102 client “wish-lists,” with donors from the community. St. Joseph Center’s Adopt-A-Family Program works to ensure that the center’s clients receive gifts and comforting holiday meals.

Wish-lists are generated by client families or individuals that include $25 gift cards for local retail stores such as Target, Sears and Ross.

In addition to the retail gift cards, each family member or individual is given $25 grocery gift cards from local markets such as Vons, Ralphs and Albertsons.
