CityTV, the government access cable channel for the City of Santa Monica, has received two Emmy Award nominations in the Public Service Announcement (PSA) Category.

The channel’s public service announcements were produced for two Santa Monica community organizations, CLARE Foundation and Step Up on Second.

CityTV airs live and replayed video coverage of Santa Monica City Council meetings, local news, arts and sports programming. Programming can be seen by every basic cable television subscriber in Santa Monica on Time Warner cable channels 16, 20, 75 and 99.

The programs nominated were produced in partnership with Women in Film’s PSA Production Program. Volunteer creative teams composed of a producer, director and writer worked with the non-profits to create scripts for the announcements. The PSAs were shot using volunteers, including clients and staff from the non-profit organizations.

“This is our first year for this partnership with Women in Film and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results,” said Darren Doerschel, CityTV’s acting station manager. “Our commitment to the community and to quality programming shines through with this Emmy nomination.”

CityTV will find out if its nominations turn into statuettes at the 61st Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards presentation scheduled Saturday evening, August 29th at the Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
