A structural fire destroyed Santino’s restaurant in Santa Monica on February 19th, despite a large suppression effort by the Santa Monica Fire Department.
Firefighters arrived at the scene at approximately 1:09 a.m. and found that the restaurant, located on the first floor of a two-story building at 3021 Lincoln Blvd., had heavy fire emanating from the front door and extending to the second-floor apartment units.
Twenty-four suppression personnel responded to the fire, including four engine companies, one battalion chief, one truck company, one rescue ambulance and one Hazmat response vehicle.
The first responders made an immediate, aggressive attack on the fire, but the restaurant suffered extensive fire damage, Fire Capt. Brad Graham said.
“The structure of the first floor is pretty much gutted,” said Graham.
No injuries to fire personnel or civilians were reported. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
