Carol E. Hinshaw — a Santa Monica elementary school teacher for the past 38 years — died Monday, January 10th.
She was 60 years old.
Hinshaw was born in Pasadena and received an English degree from UCLA.
She taught first through fifth grades at Edison, Roosevelt and John Muir Elementary Schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District.
Hinshaw enjoyed music and sang with numerous groups.
She also enjoyed traveling with her family to Alaska, where they had vacationed for the past 26 years.
Hinshaw is survived by her daughter Christine; mother Jean Berry; and brother and sister-in-law, David and Kandace Berry.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15th, at the Little Chapel of the Dawn, Gates, Kingsley & Gates, 1925 Arizona St., Santa Monica.
