Shelley Luce has been appointed executive director of the Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission.
Luce will lead the state organization, charged with implementing a plan to restore and protect the Santa Monica Bay and its resources.
Luce had earlier served as science and policy director for Heal the Bay.
“I am thrilled to join the commission and the exciting work of restoring Santa Monica Bay,” Luce said.
The Santa Monica Bay Restoration Commission was established in 2002 by an act of the California Legislature to monitor, assess, coordinate and advise the activities of state aqrograms and oversee funding that affects the beneficial uses, restoration and enhancement of Santa Monica Bay and its watersheds.
“I am very pleased to welcome Shelley, who is uniquely qualified,” said Los Angeles City Councilman Jack Weiss, Restoration Commission chair.
