The Santa Monica Elks Club and the Westchester Elks Club held Memorial Day observances Monday, May 30th, at the Elks Rest portion of Woodlawn Cemetery in Santa Monica.

The Santa Monica Elks ceremony featured a presentation by the Santa Monica Police Explorer Post and comments from Santa Monica Councilmember Kevin McKeown, police deputy chief Phil Sanchez and fire chief Jim Hone.

Also in attendance were the Santa Monica Emblem Club, Santa Monica American Legion Post 123, and the Venice American Legion Post 177.

The Westchester Elks ceremony featured a prisoner of war and missing in action service.

This ceremony was co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Westchester and the Westside Veterans Memorial Committee.

Singer Jeanie Talbot and guest speaker Wayne Parrish, first vice president of the California American Legion, performed at both Elks ceremonies.
