The Santa Monica Police Department plans to set up a sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint on Santa Monica Boulevard Saturday, February 9th.

Santa Monica police will be contacting drivers in the 3200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard to confirm their sobriety and driver’s license status.

This is the third of a number of checkpoints to be conducted during the year. Funding for the program was provided by a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Officers from the Santa Monica Police Department remind drivers to have a designated driver or to call a taxi if they plan on drinking.
