The Santa Monica Playhouse will present the world premiere of All Join In: A Fairytale Sing-A-Long Afternoon, featuring favorite songs and scenes from classic playhouse family theatre fairytales, beginning Saturday, July 3rd through September 26th.

Performances are scheduled at 12:30 and 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Santa Monica Playhouse, 1211 Fourth St.

The family event is for all ages promising “a sing-the-songs, hum-the-tunes, get-on-the-stage, win-the-prizes, good-old-fashioned English Music Hall musical revue,” says a playhouse spokesperson.

The show is written and directed by Chris DeCarlo and Evelyn Rudie, with original music and lyrics by DeCarlo, Rudie and Matthew Wrather.

Songs and scenes will be performed from such fairytales as Cinderella, Alice and the Wonderful Tea Party, Barnyard Madness with the Three Little Pigs, Beauty and the Beast, and Dorothy’s Adventures in Oz.

Like the British Musical Hall events of “olde,” audience members will have the chance to sing-a-long with their favorite characters to projected lyrics or follow along in activity-song books which they get to keep. There will be prizes and the chance to actively participate on stage.

The show was commissioned as the inaugural production of the Playhouse Family Theatre Musical Matinee Series’ 40th anniversary (and the Playhouse’s 50th year).

Tickets are $12.50 for adults and $10.50 for children under 12. Reservations are necessary.
