After working in Catholic education for 41 years, principal Joan R. Morris of St. Monica Elementary School in Santa Monica has announced that she will retire at the end of the school year.

Morris has served as St. Monica Elementary School principal for 23 years.

Hired in 1985 by former St. Monica pastor, Monsignor Anthony Duval, Morris began serving as principal during the 1985-86 school year.

A Mass of Thanksgiving and reception is planned to honor and thank Morris for her dedication and commitment to the students, faculty and staff, both past and present.

The mass is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21st, at the school, 725 California Ave., Santa Monica. A reception will immediately follow the mass in Cantwell Auditorium.
