The California Democratic Party is convening a meeting in Westchester Sunday, Jan. 9 to elect six men and six women to represent the 51st Assembly District for both the 2011 and 2012 State Party Conventions as well as an executive board representative.
The election is scheduled from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Los Angeles Fire Station No. 5 community room, 8900 S. Emerson Ave., Westchester. Doors open at 3 p.m. and remain open for registration until 5 p.m.
Parking is available on Emerson Avenue.
Any registered Democrat of the 51st Assembly District as of Oct. 18, 2010 is eligible to vote in the election for delegates. The 51st Assembly District is represented by Assemblyman Steve Bradford. The district currently consists of parts of Los Angeles, and other cities such as Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, and Lawndale.
Delegates elected attend annual conventions, network with other Democrats, represent constituency, elect party officers, promote the California Democratic Party agenda, endorse candidates for statewide, legislative and congressional offices and endorse resolutions and ballot measures.
