Santa Monica police arrested a 26-year-old man Wednesday, July 19th, after he allegedly attempted to rob a bank on Fourth Street in Santa Monica.
Police were called to the Washington Mutual bank in the 1300 block of Fourth Street at noon July 19th regarding an attempted armed robbery.
The suspect had entered the bank and presented a demand note to an employee, but the suspect left the bank without any money, police alleged.
Police officers called to the scene saw the suspect on foot in the 1300 block of Fifth Street, where he was detained. A field show-up was conducted and the suspect was positively identified and arrested, police said.
Police identified the suspect as Justin Chandler Horton, whom they describe as a transient.
Horton was booked at the Santa Monica Jail and charged with attempted armed robbery and probation violation. His bail was set at $50,000.
