Los Angeles police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the robbery of a Marina del Rey area medical marijuana dispensary July 15.

The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. at the Venezia Discount Collective at 3018 Washington Blvd., where the clerk was approached by a suspect whom he knew and who asked about money apparently owed to the suspect, Los Angeles Police Department Det. Steven Katz said.

During the discussion, three other individuals went behind the counter and allegedly tried to steal medical marijuana and other merchandise, Katz said.

The clerk then confronted the men as they were attempting to leave the business and a brawl ensued.

The clerk managed to defend himself very well during the fight, which left two of the suspects injured, Katz said. One of the suspects was detained by the clerk until police arrived, but three of the suspects fled, allegedly taking some marijuana and paraphernalia, Katz said.

The suspect who was arrested at the scene was described as a 21-year-old Hispanic man, police said.

A second suspect, whom police believe was the man who initially approached the clerk, was arrested July 16 in the mid city area, police said. He was described as a 32-year-old white man, Katz said.

Police are continuing to search for the other two suspects and the investigation is ongoing.
