The third annual Tecopa Music & Arts Festival, previously held in the desert town of Tecopa, will take place from noon to midnight Saturday, April 6, at the Marina del Rey Hotel, 13534 Bali Way, Marina del Rey.
Event organizers say they decided to move the festival closer to its home base of Venice. The new festival has been growing in size and gaining a loyal following since it originated in 2010, organizers said. More than 500 people of all ages are expected to attend this year’s event.
The festival features a full day and evening of multi-genre live music, with a lineup of 11 bands. Vendor booths will showcase local arts and crafts, along with food and drinks for purchase.
“We decided to move this event back to our home town,” said event organizer Jacqueline Lennon. “We believe our new location makes it more accessible for devoted as well as casual music fans throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas to attend.
“Working in this great city of L.A. gives us the opportunity to share our love of exciting new music groups and art with everyone who may have found it difficult to make the long 250-mile trek to Tecopa.”
The festival was organized to share the love of great music, Lennon said. Lennon grew up in a large, local musical family and has been a singer in several bands over the years. Her band, Westside Crew, is headlining the festival this year.
