BOOKED FOR AUTO THEFT
Police on patrol in the 2100 block of Olympic Boulevard at 10:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 29th, stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation.
An officer asked the driver for his license and registration. The driver was unable to provide registration information, and when the officer asked who the vehicle owner was, the driver replied with a first name only.
During the conversation the driver allegedly told police that he was on parole for auto theft. When the officer asked the driver to step outside the vehicle to be searched, the driver allegedly admitted that the vehicle was stolen.
The driver was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for auto theft.
ALLEGEDLY WROTE ON BATHROOM WALL OF PIER
Police were called to the 300 block of the Santa Monica Pier at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30th, regarding a report of vandalism on city property.
When officers arrived they saw a suspect walk into a public restroom. Police walked into the restroom and allegedly saw the suspect writing on the wall with a marker.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for vandalism and probation violation.
ALLEGEDLY AIMED KNIFE AT BAR EMPLOYEE
Police were called to a bar in the 2900 block of Main Street at 9:14 p.m. Thursday, March 30th, where a suspect had allegedly brandished a weapon.
A bar employee alleged to police that he saw a suspect yelling at a man and woman on Main Street.
When the suspect walked toward the employee to enter the bar and was asked for identification, the suspect allegedly refused to provide identification.
The suspect then allegedly began to yell at the employee and, for an unknown reason, produced a knife and began to walk toward the employee.
Police were notified and arrested the suspect, who was booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
ARRESTED FOR STEALING FOOD FROM STORE
Police were called to a store in the 700 block of Broadway at 11:55 a.m. Saturday, April 1st, where a theft suspect was in custody.
A loss prevention officer told police that a suspect allegedly entered the store, removed $16.17 worth of food, placed it in a backpack and left without paying.
The suspect was arrested outside the store and booked in Santa Monica Jail for petty theft.
STOLEN ITEMS IN PURSE
A loss prevention officer at a store in the 1400 block of Third Street Promenade alleged to police at 3:29 p.m. Saturday, April 1st, that a suspect had left the store and a security alarm was activated.
The suspect was stopped outside the store and asked to re-enter the store. Once the suspect was inside, the loss prevention officer took the suspect’s purse and passed it through the security sensor, which was again activated.
The items found inside the purse, which included clothing, makeup and a flask, had allegedly been taken from the store.
Officers also found additional allegedly stolen property from three different stores inside the purse.
The suspect was arrested and booked at Santa Monica Jail for commercial burglary.
ALLEGEDLY POSSESSED STOLEN CREDIT CARDS
A man in the 1200 block of Alley 3 (between Third and Fourth Streets) alleged to police at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday, April 5th, that a man was sitting on the ground going through numerous items, which appeared to him to be suspicious activity.
When officers arrived, they saw that the man was allegedly in possession of credit cards and identification belonging to someone else.
The suspect, who police allege had seven warrants for misdemeanor crimes in Santa Monica and Los Angeles, was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for possession of stolen property and the warrants.
