ALLEGEDLY TOOK KNIVES, VACUUM CLEANER
Police were called to a store in the 100 block of Santa Monica Place at 10:03 p.m. Wednesday, February 8th, where a theft suspect was in custody.
A store loss prevention officer told police that the suspect allegedly entered the store, removed a 20-piece cutlery set valued at approximately $400 and left without paying.
The loss prevention officer also told police that on Friday, February 3rd, he saw the same suspect allegedly enter the store, take a vacuum cleaner valued at $549 and leave without paying.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for commercial burglary.
ARRESTED FOR STEALING GEMS FROM VENDORS
Police were called to the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in the 1800 block of Main Street at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11th, where a burglary suspect was in custody.
A security guard told police that the suspect allegedly entered the auditorium for a gem show and stole items from 19 different vendors.
The items taken were gems valued at a total of $3,000.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Monica Jail, where she was booked for commercial burglary.
ALLEGEDLY JUMPED ON HOOD OF VEHICLE
A man in the 300 block of Olympic Drive told police at 8:40 p.m. Sunday, February 12th, that a suspect allegedly jumped on the hood of a vehicle, walked on the hood and rear spoiler of the car and fled.
The suspect then entered another vehicle.
The suspect was stopped by police, who arrested him and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for vandalism.
ALLEGEDLY STRUCK MAN WITH BOX CUTTER
Police were called to the 200 block of the Santa Monica Pier at 10:25 p.m. Sunday, February 12th, regarding an assault investigation.
A man told police that he was with friends talking and laughing when a suspect approached him and asked the man if he was laughing at him.
The man said no and began to walk away, but the suspect continued to follow the small group.
The suspect then allegedly produced a box cutter and struck the man on the top of the head, knocking him to the ground.
The suspect fled, but was eventually stopped by police.
The victim, who sustained a one-inch cut on the lower part of his forehead, was treated by paramedics and released.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
A police officer who was stopped at a red light at 20th Street and Olympic Boulevard at 12:43 a.m. Monday, February 13th, reported that he saw a suspect driving a Toyota westbound on Olympic at a high rate of speed.
When the suspect saw the officer, he allegedly attempted to brake quickly. The suspect lost control of the vehicle and drove onto the center median, striking a street sign.
The suspect fled on foot but was later detained.
Police checked the vehicle license plate number, which identified the car as stolen. Police alleged that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol.
Police searched the vehicle and found a handgun inside.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for possession of a stolen car, possession of a concealed handgun and driving under the influence.
MAN ALLEGEDLY HIT WOMAN IN FACE, HEAD
A woman in the area of 17th Street and Pico Boulevard alleged to police at 3:50 p.m. Monday, February 13th, that while she was inside a store, a suspect approached her and began to make comments.
When the woman attempted to leave, the suspect allegedly struck her several times in the face and head with his hands.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault and battery.
ALLEGEDLY STRUCK MAN WITH LEATHER BELT
A man in the 1900 block of Lincoln Boulevard told police at 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, February 14th, that a suspect allegedly struck him with a leather belt and began to yell profanities for an unknown reason.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault and battery and public intoxication.
BOOKED FOR STEALING COLOGNE FROM STORE
A loss prevention officer at a store in the 1300 block of the Third Street Promenade told police at 5:32 p.m. Tuesday, February 14th, that a suspect allegedly entered the store, stole a bottle of cologne valued at $75, concealed the bottle in his sweatshirt and left without paying.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for petty theft.
