BOOKED FOR STEALING MONEY FROM GIFT SHOP
Police were called to the 200 block of the Santa Monica Pier at 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, March 1st, regarding a theft investigation. An employee at the concession area of the Pier alleged to police that another employee who was hired to run the carousel gift shop had stolen $447.89 from the store over a four-week period. The suspect, who returned to the store Wednesday, March 15th, was arrested by police and booked in Santa Monica Jail for grand theft.
ALLEGEDLY USED STOLEN CARD TO BUY DRINKS
A bar employee in the 2900 block of Main Street told police at 11:32 p.m. Monday, March 13th, that a suspect in a vehicle had allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase drinks at the bar. Officers stopped the vehicle and detained the occupants. Police investigation confirmed that a passenger had allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase $22 worth of drinks at the bar. The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for fraudulent use of a credit card.
SUSPECT BOOKED FOR PUNCHING, CHOKING MAN
A man in the 500 block of Olympic Boulevard told police at 9:17 a.m. Friday, March 3rd, that he was involved in an argument over money with a suspect, and that during the argument, the suspect allegedly punched him several times in the face, choked him and fled. The suspect, who was not apprehended initially, was located by police in the 1600 block of Seventh Street at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, March 16th. The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon and parole violation.
ALLEGEDLY TOOK MONEY FROM BANK ACCOUNTS
Police were called to a bank in the 3300 block of Pico Boulevard at 12:45 p.m. Friday, March 31st, where a bank security officer told officers that an employee had been taken into custody for allegedly stealing money from customers’ accounts.
The suspect had allegedly written fraudulent deposit slips and made withdrawals from the accounts, stealing approximately $8,000 from various customers. The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for grand theft, forgery and identity theft.
BOOKED FOR STEALING BEER FROM STORE
A store employee in the 300 block of Pico Boulevard told police at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, March 19th, that a suspect allegedly entered the store, stole an 18-pack of beer and left without paying.
The suspect was arrested outside the store and booked in Santa Monica Jail for petty theft.
ARRESTED FOR PUSHING WOMAN TO GROUND
A woman in the 2600 block of Main Street told police at 5:35 p.m. Thursday, March 16th, that she saw a woman talking to a suspect, and as the woman began to walk away, the suspect allegedly pushed her from behind.
The victim fell forward to the ground and sustained facial lacerations after she hit her face on the sidewalk.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault and battery.
ALLEGEDLY STOLE CLOTHING FROM STORE
Police were called to a store in the 1400 block of the Third Street Promenade at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 21st, where a silent burglary alarm had been set off.
When officers arrived at the scene, they saw that there had been forcible entry into the location and a suspect inside the store was allegedly trying on clothing.
The suspect, who allegedly stole $134.50 worth of clothing, was arrested outside the store and booked in Santa Monica Jail for commercial burglary.
ALLEGEDLY PUT STOLEN PLATES ON VEHICLE
Police on patrol in the 1800 block of Main Street at 2:16 p.m. Monday, March 20th, saw a vehicle that was unregistered. Officers checked and found that the vehicle license plate number belonged to a different vehicle and the vehicle identification number indicated that the vehicle had been unregistered for several years. The vehicle was impounded and the driver of the vehicle was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for placing stolen license plates on a vehicle.
