BICYCLIST ALLEGEDLY POSSESSED STOLEN ITEMS
Police officers on patrol in the area of 20th Street and Broadway at 2:48 a.m. Wednesday, June 14th, saw a bicyclist allegedly riding on the sidewalk in violation of the city municipal code.
Officers stopped the suspect and during the investigation, they saw that he was in possession of two cell phones, a video game, screwdrivers and flashlights.
The suspect did not know the brand of the cell phones, which led officers to suspect that the property was stolen.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools.
BOOKED FOR NOT PAYING BILL AT RESTAURANT
Police were called to a restaurant in the 1500 block of Lincoln Boulevard at 2:23 a.m. Saturday, June 10th, where an employee alleged that a suspect entered the restaurant, ate food and left without paying the $20.49 bill.
As the suspect left the restaurant, a passing vehicle of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was flagged down and deputies detained the suspect.
Santa Monica police later arrested the suspect and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for defrauding an innkeeper.
ASSAULTED EACH OTHER
Police were called to the 300 block of Colorado Boulevard at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, June 10th, where they saw two suspects arguing in the street.
Officers spoke to one of the suspects, who was on a bicycle, who alleged that while he was riding through the parking lot, another suspect approached him and punched him for an unknown reason.
After the bicyclist was punched, he allegedly removed a metal chain from the bicycle and swung the chain at the other suspect, hitting him once in the arm.
The bicyclist was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon. The other suspect was arrested and booked for assault and battery.
SUSPECT BOOKED FOR PUSHING MAN NEAR PIER
A man in the area of Third Street and Broadway told police at 10:14 p.m. Saturday, June 10th, that he saw a suspect on the Santa Monica Pier ramp while he was walking and holding his three-year-old daughter.
The suspect allegedly told the man, “Get your daughter away from me, I just got out of prison.” The man ignored the suspect and walked away, but about 15 minutes later, the suspect allegedly reappeared and again yelled at the man.
The suspect then allegedly pushed the man, who called police.
The suspect was arrested and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault and battery.
ALLEGEDLY THREW CUP OF COFFEE AT WOMAN
A woman in the 1400 block of the Third Street Promenade told police at 12:08 p.m. Monday, June 12th, that she was standing in front of a store smoking a cigarette when a suspect approached her and asked for a cigarette.
The woman ignored the suspect, who again asked for a cigarette.
After the woman said no, the suspect, who was approximately six feet away, allegedly threw a cup of coffee at the woman but did not hit her.
The woman called police, who arrested the suspect in the 200 block of Broadway and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for assault and battery.
ARRESTED FOR STEALING CLOTHES FROM STORE
A loss prevention officer at a store in the 1300 block of the Third Street Promenade alleged to police at 6:43 p.m. Monday, June 12th, that a suspect entered the store, stole $218 worth of merchandise and left without paying.
The suspect was detained outside the store and released to police, who arrested the suspect and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for commercial burglary.
