DAMAGED SODA MACHINE
Police were called to the 1600 block of Wilshire Boulevard at 12:59 p.m. Friday, May 13th, after an employee of a business said that at noon on Friday, April 29th, someone entered the store, removed copper parts from a soda machine and damaged the soda machine. The copper parts were valued at $5,500.
The April 29th incident was videotaped by store cameras. When the alleged suspect entered the store again Friday, May 13th, he was identified by several employees, who notified police.
The suspect was taken to Santa Monica Jail and booked for grand theft and felony vandalism.
Police were called to the 1400 block of Third Street Promenade at 8:23 p.m. Sunday, May 15th, regarding a theft suspect in custody.
An employee alleged to police that he saw a suspect leave the store and activate the alarm.
The suspect was stopped outside the store, where stolen clothing valued at $154 was recovered from the suspect.
The suspect was booked in Santa Monica Jail for petty theft.
Police stopped a pedestrian at 20th Street and Colorado Avenue at 11:36 p.m. Sunday, May 15th, for walking against a red light.
When police first stopped the suspect, he allegedly refused to stop and continued to walk. When the suspect was eventually stopped, he allegedly spat on an officer’s boots.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Monica Jail where he was booked for assault and a traffic violation.
Police were called to the 100 block of Pacific Street at 12:39 a.m. Monday, May 16th, regarding a report of a burglary.
A victim told police that a suspect allegedly entered the residence, looked through a backpack and fled the scene when confronted.
The suspect was later stopped and identified by the victim. The suspect was booked in Santa Monica Jail for burglary.
Police were called to the 400 block of Broadway at 1:03 a.m. Monday, May 16th, regarding a theft investigation.
An employee told police that a suspect allegedly entered the store, removed a skateboard and left without paying.
The employee confronted the suspect, who allegedly pushed the employee when attempting to escape.
Police arrested the suspect and booked him in Santa Monica Jail for strong-arm robbery.
ALLEGEDLY THREATENED WITH LIGHTER FLUID
Police were called to the 1500 block of Second Street at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday, May 17th, after a report of a fight.
A victim told police that a suspect allegedly threatened to set the victim on fire with lighter fluid if he did not produce money.
The suspect was arrested by police and booked in Santa Monica Jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
Police were called to the 100 block of Santa Monica Place at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, May 18th, after a report of a theft.
A loss prevention officer told police that a suspect allegedly entered the store, removed cosmetic items from the display table and left without paying. The items were valued at $220.
The suspect was arrested by police and booked in Santa Monica Jail for theft.
