The Westchester Family YMCA is offering a new evening workshop series titled ìParenting the Growing Teen,î presented by the Airport Marina Counseling Service.

This series of three evening workshops will focus on preserving communication and the relationships between parents and teens. Workshops will be conducted by Dr. Kathie Blake Greenberg, a clinical psychologist and a psychology intern.

The workshops are scheduled on three consecutive Tuesdays beginning April 24th. Workshops will be held from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The workshops are $10 each or $25 for all three workshops.

Here is a schedule of the workshops:

– Workshop No. 1 ñ Tuesday, April 24th, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (for parents only);

– Workshop No. 2 ñ Tuesday, May 1st, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (one group for parents and one group for teens); and

– Workshop No. 3 ñ Tuesday, May 8th, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. (for parents and teens together).

Airport Marina Counseling Service is a private, nonprofit outpatient mental health clinic that has been serving the greater Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) region since 1961.

The mission of the counseling service is two-fold ó to provide excellent, affordable and professional mental health services, and to train mental health professionals, according to the counseling service.

The clinic currently serves Westchester, Playa del Rey, Marina del Rey, Venice, Santa Monica and other areas.

The Westchester Family YMCA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing before- and after-school childcare, healthy lifestyles programs, camping, swimming, youth sports, teen programs, parent-child activities and a variety of recreational experiences for children and adults of all ages.
