Twenty-five Venice High School seniors, three Venice Community Adult School students and two Phoenix Continuation School students will receive scholarships from the Venice High School Alumni Association next month.

The students will receive their scholarships at a June awards ceremony, said Paul Belli, president of the alumni association.

This month, the Venice High School Alumni Association announced $126,500 to go toward 2007 scholarships for students — $11,500 more than last year.

Students apply for the scholarships at the Venice High School counselors office.

Scholarships are awarded in the name of donors, Venice honorees or others who have supported the Venice High School community over the years.

Last year, the Alumni Association awarded 28 graduating seniors $115,00 in scholarships.

The Venice High School Alumni Association is a group of friends and graduates who support the high school and maintain friendships.

The scholarship program is sustained by an endowment of $1.3 million managed by the California Community Foundation.
