The Venice High School Alumni Association has awarded $125,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors.

The scholarships, ranging from $1,000 to $16,000, were awarded to 28 Venice High students during Senior Awards Night.

The students honored will be attending schools such as University of California-Berkeley, Boston University, UCLA, UC-Davis, Emory University, California State University-Northridge and Santa Monica College, as well as trade tech schools.

One of the scholarships awarded is in memory of Scott Antolick, who was a senior when he died of heart complications. His parents, Art and Penny Antolick, present a $5,000 scholarship annually. Doris Gilbert, mother of Laura Jean Gilbert, who died of complications from diabetes, also presented a scholarship.

Many scholarships are awarded in memory of faculty and family, according to the alumni association.
